If you’ve ever charged a fast food meal,

this article is for you…

I see nothing wrong with charging a fast food meal. I usually do so because my credit card gives me 3% cash back for purchases at restaurants. If students spend within their means, using credit cards often could actually be beneficial if the balance is paid in full each month and the credit card has cashback rewards.

I still can't believe that the average 20-29 year old has 5,781 dollars in credit card debt. I have heard that stat before and it amazes me every time. I think that credit card companies shouldn't be allowed to solicit students on campus to sign up for free t-shirts or some other gimmick. As this article mentions it is also bad for your credit score to cancel these cards after opening them. I always avoid any credit card company on campus. I figure that they are counting on students to not have enough money to pay their debt off. I stick with the local bank that have my checking account through. That way I can pay my credit card bill on line and transfer the money directly from my checking account without any fees.
